The Mathematics Department at Hostos Community College of the City University of New York invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Department specifically seeks applicants with interest in teaching, research and the capacity to help develop and run a major in computer sciences.

Hostos Community College is located in the Bronx and the diverse faculty of the Mathematics Department works closely with students and each other in an open and collegiate atmosphere. Hostos has both a teaching and a research mission and the candidate will be expected to teach core undergraduate computer sciences and mathematics courses as well as electives within their area of research and share responsibility of committee and other departmental assignments.

Potential candidates will be able to work collaboratively, contribute to departmental strengths in teaching and research, and be able to lead efforts to broaden participation in Computer Sciences and Mathematics areas.


Ph.D degree in Computer Sciences or Mathematics with a specialization in computation. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Availability to work evening and weekend hours

  • Bilingual skills


Salary for this position commensurate with education and experience.
