City Tech invites applications for a tenure track position at the assistant professor level for our Department of Hospitality Management, to begin during the 2019-2020 academic year. The Department of Hospitality Management is recognized internationally as the premier hospitality management program of the City University of New York. The department is accredited by ACPHA and offers both associate and bachelor’s degrees.
The candidate should have a history of significant hotel operations experience. In addition to teaching, this position offers an opportunity to develop curriculum and programs in a dynamic and highly regarded department with strong links to industry.
Teach courses in the diverse segments of the Hospitality Management curriculum including, but not limited to: hotel and resort management, lodging operations, research methods, financial management, legal, environment, and/or workforce management
Engage in program development, recruitment, and student advisement. Committee participation is expected, as well as other department, college, university and/or community projects.
Day, evening, and weekend curriculum and department duties may be required.
Continued professional growth and scholarly contributions to the field are expected.
Minimum qualifications are a Master’s Degree with at least 5 years of post-degree employment in hotel operations.
Doctorate degree with record of research and grant activity.
Significant hospitality management industry experience (10+ years preferred)
Higher education teaching experience as well as knowledge of accreditation process and assessment.
