Medgar Evers College (MEC), a nationally recognized leader in urban-serving education, is one of twenty three colleges within the dynamic City University New York (CUNY) System. Students represent 105 countries around the world! MEC students obtain Associate degrees in 8 fields, and Baccalaureate degrees in 18 fields. They are instructed by over 208 Full-time dedicated faculty members who must maintain a portfolio of scholarship and research. To meet the needs of its students, the College offers courses and programs at various times, is growing their online program offerings, and in offsite locations. The College is committed to a student-centered education and advancing knowledge through scholarly research.
Reporting to The Assistant Vice President of Administration & Finance the Finance Specialist duties include:
Administer the collection of Tuition and Fees, Language Immersion & Adult Continuing Education Program revenues reporting
Analyze cash posting to the CUNYfirst General Leger System ensuring funds are allocated by funding source to college business units
Review College's Trial Balances for irregularities and work with colleges to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Prepare monthly Cash Position Report and manage periodic Tuition & Fees, Language Immersions and Continuing Education cash transfers to New York State and New York City on behalf of the College - Assist in developing new reporting procedures within CUNYfirst to facilitate revenue analysis and reporting
Provide proper guidance to the College during CUNYfirst Student Financial implementation process - Prepare presentation materials and participate in providing training to the college to facilitate year end close
Review and recommend improvements to existing revenue and cash management activities
Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.
Experience with expenditure tracking in a large, complex organization
Experience using online ledger, financial systems and databases, specifically PeopleSoft financials -Advanced proficiency with Excel and data structures
Ability to grasp and understand budgetary data
Detail oriented and accurate with strong numerical analysis, evaluation and research skills
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Coordinates financial matters for a program or department under management direction.
Maintains financial accounts for income and spending; administers the allocation of funds
Analyzes spending, income trends and usage to recommend improvements
Manages the collection of revenue and accounts receivable
Tracks and maintains financial data to provide fiscal reports to management; produces forecasting projections
Monitors the financial condition of operating centers to ensure efficient use of resources
Performs ad hoc reporting and analysis as necessary
May supervise subordinate staff
Performs related duties as assigned.
