Medgar Evers College (MEC), a nationally recognized leader in urban-serving education, is one of twenty-four units within the dynamic City University New York (CUNY) System. Located in Central Brooklyn, MEC was established in 1970 with a mandate to meet the educational and social needs of the Central Brooklyn community, currently enrolling approximately 7,000 students in degree programs. Students represent 105 countries around the world. MEC students obtain Associate degrees in 8 fields, and Baccalaureate degrees in 18 fields. They are instructed by over 170 full-time dedicated faculty members who must maintain a portfolio of scholarship and research. To meet the needs of its students, the College offers courses and programs at various times, is growing their online program offerings, and in offsite locations. The College is committed to a student-centered education and advancing knowledge through scholarly research.
Reporting to the Director of Athletics & Intramurals, the Student Athletics Program Coordinator will provide front line support for the daily operations of the Department of Athletics. The Coordinator will complete all supportive administrative tasks and serve as a campus and community resource for athletic and recreational activity for the Medgar Evers College students, staff and community.
In addition to CUNY title overview, typical duties will include but not limited to:
Maintain files of athlete records such as registration forms; medical releases, and team rosters
Order required league athletic equipment such as jerseys, balls, nets, etc.
Assist in administering all aspects of media and sports information, statistics and promotion published in online and print media relating to the college’s 14 intercollegiate sports
Update and maintain the MEC athletics website (www.mecathletics.com) & all Social Media Platforms.
Collaborate with Student Life staff to track if students maintain a regular and/or appropriate schedule of events and activities
Coordinate gym facility rentals around the needs of the MEC athletic programs
Serve as liaison to the Office of Communications and Marketing. Collaborate regarding posters, athletic recruiting materials and other athletic department printed material.
Assist in providing promotional and statistical coverage of intercollegiate athletics and intramurals. Assists with special events, photo day, health and wellness program promotion, and fundraising activities.
Abide by and enforce the rules and regulations established by Medgar Evers College, the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Bachelor's degree required.
Experience with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
Experience working in sports information office or media relations office is preferred.
Must be able to work nights and weekends, depending on the season.
Excellent writing skills, strong editing and communication skills.

Assists with compliance programs activities required by the CUNYAC (CUNY Athletic Conference) and external bodies
Serves student-athletes through providing advising services and enrichment programs
Organizes student-athlete communications and activities, and other department work such as calendars, materials, reports, handbooks, and compliance manuals
Performs related duties as assigned.
