POSITION DETAILS

The Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy (CUNY SPH) is dedicated to providing cutting edge graduate degree programs and to identifying, designing, implementing and evaluating public health initiatives that promote social justice. The mission of the School is to promote public health policies to improve the health of populations. CUNY SPH faculty members are recognized leaders in health policy, community health interventions, epidemiology and biostatistics, and public health informatics, among other areas. Faculty and students are actively engaged in promoting healthy cities in a healthy world. CUNY SPH is located in a new vertical campus in the heart of Harlem in New York City.

In addition to the general duties, the Research and Sponsored Programs Grants Manager will also be required to:

  • Assist faculty and staff in understanding Research Foundation policies with regards to the management of grants and contracts.

  • Work with faculty and staff to research funding opportunities, submit proposals via online submission, and subsequent post-award administration.

  • Manage grants, research projects, and proposals as well as pre- and post-award activities.

  • Prepare and monitor program budgets and expenditures.

  • Assist the Associate Dean for Research in ensuring training requirements are met and appropriate approvals are in place, as needed.

  • Act as liaison with the Research Foundation of CUNY to ensure effective and compliant post-award administration of grants and contracts.

This position reports to the Associate Dean for Research.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • Expertise with sponsored programs and their requirements

  • Understanding of Federal/State/Local agencies, Private Foundations

  • Experience in grantsmanship (review of funding announcements, budgets, budget justification, etc.)

  • Proficient In MS Office, including Excel

  • Experience in preparing reports for university, foundation, accrediting, governmental or other bodies

  • Familiarity/Experience with research compliance, Research Foundation of CUNY and CUNY policies and procedures

  • Superior organizational skills with ability to meet urgent deadlines, recognize and move task priorities

  • Ability to be flexible and work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Excellent oral and written communication, analytic, diplomatic, interpersonal, time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills

  • Ability to interact with high-level executives within and outside the School and University

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Manages College research programs and provides support for related compliance activities.

  • Administers various aspects of research programs including submission reviews, compliance education, and project protocols

  • Provides administrative support and guidance to researchers and administrators with regards to applicable federal, state, local, University, and College regulations, laws, and policies

  • Ensures investigators and key personnel complete required training

  • Delivers or oversees educational training on research and related activities such as research subject rules and protocols, research compliance and integrity, etc.

  • Monitors research subject care and use to ensure safety measures are met

  • Serves as primary contact with other College departments and external organizations on research program needs and activities

  • Collects information on, monitors, and reports on the advancement and completion of research projects and compliance

  • May administer grant funds, prepare proposals, and research potential funding sources

  • May manage program administrative and clerical staff

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience up to $71,723.
