FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The CUNY School of Medicine (CSOM) at The City College of New York (CCNY), is the only medical school in the City University of New York system. Our innovative curriculum allows students to complete both their undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees in seven years. CSOM will graduate its first MD class in 2020. CSOM also has a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies (PA). Our mission is to provide access to medical education to talented youth from social, ethnic and racial backgrounds historically underrepresented in medicine and to develop health professionals committed to practicing in under-served communities with a special emphasis on primary care. As a growing school, our philanthropic areas of growth will be in student scholarships and support to our educational and research missions.
The Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Biomedical Sciences within the CSOM is seeking candidates for a Research Assistant Professor position. The successful applicant will have experience running an independent research project with a focus on applying in vitro and in vivo approaches (e.g., microdialysis/HPLC, amperometry/voltammetry, biochemisty assays, behavioral assays) to examine the molecular action of psychostimulants on the brain dopamine system. Preference will be given to highly creative and motivated individuals with a strong record of publications.
Research faculty engage in, are responsible for, manage, and/or execute significant areas of research or scholarship. They may serve as principal or co-principal investigators on grants or contracts, manage postdoctoral fellows and their research projects or supervise graduate or undergraduate student research. Research Faculty hold full-time, non-tenure track positions. While they may participate in instructional programs, such as lectures or demonstrations, they are not assigned regular teaching duties.
Ph.D. in Physiology, Pharmacology, Neurobiology, Biochemistry or other related field
Minimum four years post-doctoral experience
Must have the ability to successfully carrying out research, with the ability to advise and/or oversee the work of others
