POSITION DETAILS

The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) serves to ensure academic integrity by communicating institutional policies and is a resource for all members of the college community. Strategic goals of OUR consist of 1) to advance development and implementation of consistent, equitable university policies that respect the diversity and needs of CUNY colleges, students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community; 2) to support the facilitation of efficient services and processes that incorporate technology with an emphasis on customer service; and 3) to continuously assess our performance in order for the University to remain in the forefront of quality customer service, successful deployment of technology, and effective leadership.

OUR looks to hire a University Excelsior Scholarship Enrollment Specialist to function as the subject matter expert in New York State’s Excelsior Scholarship credit verification for all 26 CUNY campuses. Primary responsibilities of this role are as follows:

  • Manage transfer credit evaluation, credit verification, verification appeals, and related matters for Excelsior applicants.

  • Manage communication between the University and NYS Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) regarding Excelsior verification; ensure data is uploaded to HESC system in a timely manner.

  • Serve as both functional and technical resource to campuses during the testing and implementation of Excelsior integration with DegreeWorks, CUNYfirst, and HESC software; spearhead application maintenance, optimization, and report writing among other field-specific skills.

  • Assist with change management while enhancing existing practices; help identify new needs and streamline processes for increased efficiency across University.

  • Train, develop, and supervise support staff.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.

Other Qualifications

  • Experience and understanding of admissions, enrollment, and student records business processes.

  • Familiarity with standard procedures for credit evaluation and verification.

  • Experience with Campus Solutions Frameworks and utilities, PeopleSoft Query, and ERP/CRM solutions.

  • Strong database, query, and report writing experience, with proven data analysis and synthesis skills to inform decision making.

  • Strong communications competencies, especially in regards to writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Detail oriented and accurate with strong organizational skills and ability to establish plans, manage multiple assignments with conflicting priorities, and meet deadlines in a time sensitive environment.

Administers one or more centralized student enrollment services, processes and related functions and technologies:

  • Collaborates with management team in the development of admission and enrollment goals, strategies, and initiatives; participates in planning enrollment events

  • Analyzes and interprets quantitative and qualitative student enrollment data to prepare reports for management

  • Recommends and implements to existing technical systems and office operations

  • Serves as resource reference to interpret and comply with University policies

  • Prepares, reviews, and coordinates the production and distribution of student communication materials

  • May coordinate aspects of student entry from point of acceptance to include orientation, advisement, and collection of admitted student documents

  • May supervise office operations, staff and/or department budget

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
